Butchered Final Cut - Class Feedback

For our final cut of Butchered, we gave out another set of sheets for people to give us an overall review on our product. Below, is the main statistics for our scores from the class:

• 7/10 - Seven people.
• 8/10 - Four people.
• 9/10 - One person.

This gives us an average into what people thought of our trailer, which goes into more detail later on. Generally, I'm quite pleased with the scores as I was expecting the marks to drop a bit due to lack of gore effects (Adobe After Effects).

Positive Points
-Make up/Gore effects.
-Clear and good narrative.
-Good choice of music.
-Action sequences were good.

Negative Points
-More close ups needed (Especially on the zombies).

-A jump scare at the end would have been better.

-Didn't scare them enough.

-Choice of Font wasn't too good for the genre of trailer.

From all this, we get an insight into what our target audience thinks of our initial product. This lets us improve for future attempts to make it more satisfying to their demands. We now know what to improve on and what has been done right, giving us more confidence for future productions.

Butchered Poster - Rough Cut

This is my Movie Poster for our trailer "Butchered". I have labelled it as a rough cut as there is still some improvements to be made. Once it has been properly finished, I will upload it and be able to compare any changes to what I was going to have (above) to what I have changed.



Screening Magazine Cover - Rough Cut

This is my Magazine Cover for Screening. The main focus of this is about our trailer "Butchered". This has been uploaded as a rough cut as there are still slight tweaks that can be done to it. Once I have finished it completely from what I would have (above) then I will be able to compare the two to see the slight differences I have made depending on my feedback.



Butchered Postive and Negative Class Feedback

Above is a screenshot of our reviews when explaining our trailer idea to our class. Overall, I'm happy with this as we've gotten the majority of the class interested in our trailer. From this, we could then focus on why the last person isn't interested in it and how to make it seem like a good idea to them. This could also involve putting in a few new elements to the trailer.

 

From this, I can compare the plot line with what we actually create later on in the near future. This lets me see how much has been changed or what has been changed if anything, allowing comparisons for my evaluation.

Butchered Shooting Schedule

Above is my Shooting Schedule. With this, I know what i'll need to do on specific days and be able to work around my free time. Using this will keep everything organised and make sure that I get around to completing everything by my overall deadline. This benefits the group as a whole as we know what days we will need specific equipment and actors to make sure that it is pre-planned for production. I hope that by using this everything will turn out well and everything will get completed.

 

 

 

Butchered Shotlist

Above is my completed Shotlist. From this, I have a clear idea as to what I will be filming and the overall types of shots. When making this, I had a specific amount of Close Ups and Cuts needed and I have reached that limit. From making this, I have made it so it is more aimed at a highlights trailer to draw the viewer in immediately, whilst also having elements of a story based trailer. I had initially planned to do a story based trailer since it gives an idea into what the storyline will be based around, but I decided to add in highlights to attract both audiences.

 





Chosen Trailer Type

For my trailer, I've chosen to base it off a highlights trailer. This is because it shows the most excitement, has the fastest pace and will keep the audience engaged for the longest time. There are specific things to watch for when creating a highlights trailer and that is so that you don't end up showing the majority of the story through the trailer (which can be seen in the trailer for "The Toxic Avenger") as this way, there is nothing for the audience to look forward to. The best thing to do is add a few key points which would be interesting and then make sure to leave out a few things leaving the story on a cliffhanger. My personal idea for a highlights trailer is to mix up all of the specific clips so that they aren't in order so the story won't seem to follow a pattern and give an overall idea into the whole film shortened. For my trailer, I will be using a variety of different techniques such as Collision Cutting and Jump Scares to keep my audience engaged and get across the point that this is a horror film.
